A huge weight has been lifted because I passed my test today which will give me 'indefinite leave to remain' in Britain should the Home Office accept our application. I can't get actual citizenship for another year but it's the easing of the burden of having to renew visas that's the goal here. Especially as Other Half has claimed his ancestral citizenship and is now viewed as British from birth in the eyes of the Queen; the marriage might get awkward with me getting kicked out of the country every three years or so. Also, I just read that one of the requirements to be granted citizenship is that you must be 'of sound mind' so that counts me out.
Sadly, I was one of only three to pass out of the group and I felt so sorry for the others, especially as there was no privacy when the results were announced!
I think the Union Jack and tulle should always go together. Maybe Gordon Brown wouldn't object to adding a bit of trim to the flag? Will they chuck out my application for saying that?
