A favourite Dutch brand of mine, Studio Lorier, will be exhibiting new projects at Salone Satellite in Milan from April 17-22, 2018. Keeping in line with the studio's focus on making interiors more fun, surprising and different, these new designs will also appeal to lovers of minimalism and colour. Founding designer Sander Lorier has a knack for making functional interior objects out of simple, familiar shapes that feel fresh, making them suitable for a range of interior styles. I also like how we're given the options of both clean white or natural wood, and colour, the latter which usually comes in the form of neutral, soft pastels or brighter gradient shades, so we can mix and match while keeping a balance of tones.
Slide Table is a compact design that can slide out and almost triple the surface area. It's handy for any situation where more table space is needed, or when you simply want to rearrange the shape. The three wooden tabletops are connected by a slider mechanism, which allows the three parts to be moved into many configurations. It comes in natural wood as well as pastel colours.
The Pixel Collection combines the analog and digital, a reminder that both can be beautiful, as each have their distinctive character and can exist together in harmony. The organic shape of each object, which includes a vase and both a wall and table top clock, appears to be taken over by the digital pixels. These pixels represent the rise of the digital influence in our current lives.
Wave is a customizable bookshelf where each separate layer can be moved independently. The clever system allows the user to create any shape for the bookshelf. Simply slide it in the desired position and lock the full shape in place by just one single screw for the whole bookcase. Made of solid pine wood and available in multiple heights, layers can be added or removed to set the ideal height.
The FlowerTop collection of flowerpots feature a spray painted finish with a colored matte glaze. The top of the pots and vases are fully saturated, softening gradually bottom to a white base.
The Gradient Shelving system is made up of separate modular elements that can be assembled in multiple configurations, allowing you to create and easily change different shapes of shelving. The colours are spray painted in a gradient pattern that gradually mixes the wood and color.
No tools are required to assemble or dismount the shelving. Options include drawers, doors, a wine rack and clothing rail.
