At Orgatec 2016, the leading international office and facilities trade fair in Cologne, Walter Knoll exhibited 12 interior innovations for executive offices, conferencing and consulting, open workspaces and public seating. “Our working world is changing. The design of a room is becoming ever more significant. Because the furnishings play a major role in the success of a company – modern and open, formal and informal, alone and in a team,” says Markus Benz, CEO and Managing Director of Walter Knoll AG & Co. KG.
It is ever so wise for a company to invest in a well-designed workplace, for employee morale alone. I think if I were to ever be lured back to an office job, an inspiring environment would be a must. I once worked for four years in a grey, charmless office that was the equivalent of a giant metal filing cabinet. I would look in the staff kitchen fridge just for a change of scenery and some colour. But if I could get down to business in a space like the one above, I might never leave. Iconic furniture, exquisite rugs and pastel-tinted glass partitions in place of dingy cubicle walls? What a dream.
