Strawberry, Lime and Chocolate
From here on, I'm doing away with Cupcake Monday, but in name only! I'm going to be doing more food posts, and although a reader poll revealed no issue with Cupcake Monday being a misnomer, in that we weren't looking at actual cupcakes much of the time, I've decided to drop it, but still promise to have something sweet to share every Monday. I'll be adding specific food categories as the variety grows, and sharing recipes where possible so there's something useful along with the yummy photos. The CM category will remain until I figure out what to do!
This is the latest Café Gourmand from Gareth James Chocolatier, my favourite indulgence made even more irresistible by its changing lineup every couple of weeks. Every bit of it is created upstairs in their kitchen with proprietary recipes and thorough experimentation, until each element offers exactly what Gareth had in mind. At the moment, the tasting plate is all about the fresh, summery flavours of lime and strawberry, in addition to its chocolate mainstay, of course. My favourite was the lime posset, an absolutely gorgeous pudding, full of fresh lime just the way I like it - it spikes the tastebuds at the back of the tongue and stops just short of a chill. I could have eaten a bucket full of it! I asked Gareth about it and he explained the posset is set lime and cream, the consistency coming from the natural reaction between the two ingredients.
Crunchy fruit and nut cobbles and freeze-dried strawberry pave - totally addictive!

Thanks Wendy, I'm sure cupcakes will figure in here and there!
