Cupcake Monday! The Soapy Edition

Elle's parties1

Well, the only people who are getting Cupcake Monday on time are the people on the North American west coast, and barely! My apologies. I only had to put the finishing touch on the post but I fell asleep very early and woke up at 5 am, and here I am. I've apparently got a kidney infection. But whatever it is I've been pretty wiped and rather sick of it all, it's been three long days and counting. Now back to Cupcake Monday!

When we moved into our new house I wanted to quickly give it a homey feel and fill up all of the nice, deep ledges that a 1930s house tends to have with pretty things. We've got two in the bathroom and I knew what I wanted - flowers, and cute soaps made to look like cupcakes and sweets. I found the soaps I wanted at Love Lee Soaps on Etsy - doughnuts, a cupcake and a peppermint candy (she also sells yummy whipped body butter and exfoliating bars). I put them in these lovely dishes I found at the market, one is Czech but I'm not sure how old, and the other, a cut crystal dish, is 1930s and I got it for £1.50. Amazing!

I have a confession to make. I licked one of the doughnuts. They smelled and looked too good. And to my surprise, instead of being punished with putrid flavouring for acting like a four year-old, it actually tasted sweet! So then I licked the cupcake - it's so real looking! - and it was sweet, too! I'm not talking tongue bath here, it was a millisecond of contact with the very tip of my tongue. But yes, I know that still counts. I didn't do it again. Really!

The pictures would have been so much nicer if we had the original 1930s windows. But then again we'd be freezing and no one wants to freeze in the bathroom. Still, that handle is making my vase look like it has a boner.

These beautiful origami flowers are from LLilard Designs, also on Etsy. I just love them!

And here's the other window ledge, with the pepperment candy soap from LoveLeeSoaps (that one may have been spared a lick). I filled the porcelain tub with more paper flowers, these gorgeous and full pink roses are from Pretty Paper Flowers on Not on the Highstreet. It's an online marketplace that sells goods of all kinds from creative small businesses in the UK - stuff that you are not going to find in the big chain stores, the special stuff. And I'm not done with those paper flowers. While I love real ones it's costly to have them all over your house and this way you never have to worry about them dying, they always look beautiful!

Denise, love coming to your blog + look at beautiful things xxx :)

What timing. DId you know that today is actually National Cup Cake Day? Uh huh, that's right.

Reanna: Ha, really? It's must be North America's turn, it was UK National Cup Cake day a while back, and a website was doing daily giveaways for a week! Maybe it was national cupcake week. I didn't win any, though. :(

I hope you are paying homage to this fine treat by devouring at least one today!

Anne: Thank you! You just made my day!

Denise ♥

These are so lovely! I would never had guessed the cupcake was actually a soap.
I hope you get well soon...Rest loads!

xx

It looks amazing! I am so glad that you like the soaps. Get well soon.

Leeana ♥

Glad you discovered LLillard Designs on Etsy. I have bought several different bunches of these beautiful origami flowers in the past month, most recently a dozen deep red ones for a special friend for Christmas. The white flowers are especially gorgeous, and make a beautiful wedding bouquet. Check out the web page on Etsy.

I know i would try licking the soaps too.
