Cupcake Monday! The Local Sparkly Edition
I just got in from Edinburgh and I still have the feeling of the city all over me. You know what I mean? That transitional period where your brain hasn't caught up with the fact that you are now in a distinctly different place. A couple hours ago I was watching brightly lit carnival rides whirl around with a moonlit Edinburgh castle as the backdrop while bagpipers played in the snow - oh their legs must have been cold! (I guess tights or long johns wouldn't be acceptable, would they? And they say they don't wear knickers under those! Oh man, bad visual. I'm picturing the frozen grapes they use for making ice wine.) And now here I am in my kitchen. Too incongruent to process immediately. What a day, a total comedy of errors except that I was almost crying instead of laughing. It was like The Three Stooges but instead of Moe ripping out Larry's hair it was me about to yank out my own. But I got to see an art exhibit that was so breathtaking it made it all worth it, which is why I went in the first place. More on the fiasco, the scenery, and the art tomorrow. Though it should be said that Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities and its people are just awesome - it played no part in the buffoonery. If it didn't have pay toilets everywhere it would be perfection.
And now, cupcakes! This is a bit of a déjà vu, I think two of the cupcakes starred in Cupcake Monday two weeks ago. But Mr. Swelle (I was calling him Other Half but I think I'll go with this now) brought home a box of cupcakes from the market last weekend and they were too pretty too ignore. They are from Elizabeth and Oliver who make fantastic pastries and cakes, as you can see!
I love the edible glitter. Especially the purple on the chocolate icing. But unfortunately that was claimed by the Remorseless Eating Machine otherwise known as my daughter.

LOVE those cupcakes... YUM!!! Andddddddd that photo of the ladies in PAris is FAB!!!
ENJOY!
