Sonia Rykiel's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Most of Them)
Sonia Rykiel's show was all about girls having fun, and also underwear. She must have been one of the rather expansive group who got the memo that Jean-Paul Gaultier's old Madonna costume of pointy bra and high waisted panelled briefs of some kind were to figure into the show somehow.
It's so nice to see the models smiling and acting flirtatious in their bright, happy hued outfits and little disc hats, rather than stomping along sour-faced as if is a mandatory bacon double cheeseburger buffet is waiting for them at the end of the runway. I don't mean to sound bitchy. I think I may just be hungry.
But not everyone played along. This girl at least managed an open mouth even if the corners wouldn't turn up:
"I find all of this 'happy' talk amusing. But I'm not about to show it":
"Will this do? It's all I got."
"I'm wearing sunglasses so no one can see me anyway."
"I don't get paid enough to show emotion. Wait, I do. But I'm still not doing it.":

Fantastic pieces, and I love it when the models have a bit of life and energy to them. I can't understand why more people don't do that...I certainly would!

I think maybe they're smiling BECAUSE there's a double cheesburger waiting for them.
They look like they've been starved in preparation for the show :o)
Actually, it is nice to see models doing something other than strutting along the catwalk looking miserable and I love some of the pieces in the collection

It is sooooooo nice to see models smiling and having fun on the catwalks! There are too many serious and moody campaign images and fashion shows ... fashion is supposed to be fun in some areas and the shows should be one of those areas!

YFM & Miss P - too bad it's such a rarity. And why?? It's funny how some of the models are almost unrecognizable when they smile! And you can see their youth.
Pink - it's a must-do! Let's make sure of it!
Sara - I'm actually looking forward to that collab, it's not much of a stretch so it should be great!
Retro Chick - Ha! So true. Freja's legs look like French Fries. The girls drop so much weight for the shows, weight they don't even have and most of them look just awful.
Parmie - Absolutely! I love the old fashion shows where the models wore polite smiles and made ladylike gestures!
