To My Lovely Readers:

  • As you've surely noticed I run ads on The Swelle Life. My blog and writing projects are what I spend all of my 'professional' time on and therefore any sponsor support is most appreciated; it makes it easier to continue what I'm doing and justify the time spent, especially since I left my 9-5 job to focus on my writing. Therefore, at the very least I hope you don't mind the ads, and at best I hope you'll click every once in a while and take a look at what these fashionable companies are offering. Thank you for your wonderful support as well, it wouldn't be the same without you. Love, Denise ♥♥♥

Oh, I loved this movie just for the look of it. I went to a premiere and remember that I wore my Anne Boleyn necklace for the first time. It was before I'd designed my Marie Antoinette ring :-)

Caz

This film was indeed a delight to look at but had absolutely no substance whatsoever! It felt like a never-ending perfume advert. Despite this I still enjoyed it and it gave me massive Laduree cravings!

Sofia Coppola's life is probably a Dior perfume commercial.

I want to live in that commercial.

Aside from that, I do enjoy the Dunst and her slightly gap-toothed splendor.

Denise @ Swelle

I too want to live in that Dior perfume commercial! This is kind of (definitely) embarrassing, but when I went to Paris after seeing that commercial I bought a bottle of Miss Dior Cherie just because of it! I had never bought a bottle of perfume in my life, and it doesn't even smell that great, it's more 'clean' than pretty or tasty but the bottle is a keeper and it reminds me of Paris, so what the heck?!

Sandra @ DebutanteClothing

Oh I loved this movie. The clever modern details to the costumes, the color palate, the sound track. I think she captured the youthfulness of Marie Antoinette and put it into terms us GenXers and Yers can relate to.

I didn't care about the historical inaccuracies (champagne, colors, etc.). It was a beautiful film.

alexandra keller

enchanting. i'll have to see it

Jen Laceda

Marie Antoinette is my all time fave movie for girly costumes and set design! Sophia may be a genius for making this movie!

Michelle

This is one of those movies that I'll never get tired of watching just because of its beauty.

Amber Mitchell

You posted this on my birthday and this is probably my favorite visual feast movie of all time - I even threw a petite French X-mas party that year inspired by it. Thank you for the "gift" :) - Amber

Denise @ Swelle

Amber - you're so welcome! I hope you had a lovely birthday! How great that you threw a Marie Antoinette party, I would have loved to see that! xxx

Intrinsically Florrie

I agree entirely- the whole film is divine.
The clothes, the fans, the chairs, the macaroons... I could go on forever.
You chose a wonderful selection of images.
