The British Vogue advertising feature tucked away in the back pages isn't something I usually look at, it's hard enough getting through the rest of the content-heavy mag (and all the others), and taking the time to gush over Tim Walker's editorial spread before the next one arrives. But one day I did and I'm glad, as I spied the most adorable 50s style dress in a turquoise bird print fabric from the Brighton brick & mortar and online boutique Get Cutie.
Now, their sweetly feminine retro shapes are enough to get us off our chairs to fetch the debit card (I'm trying to promote personal fiscal responsibility here), but what sets them apart is their variety of prints - from the prim and pretty (florals, bluebirds) to the kitsch (50s birthday girls, Elvis) to the totally 'out there' (The Virgin Mary, Barbarella), and the option to match your preferred print to the style of dress, skirt, bow hairband, organic tote, men's shirt, or even underwear you fancy. If your size isn't in stock they'll make it for you if they've got the fabric, and they're committed to ensuring you get the right fit - they'll even send out a sample size in advance for you to try on! I love that. But if you're in a hurry there are size charts online with specific measurements for each garment. And they deliver world wide so I'm not teasing those outside the UK. (Although the website is scheduled for some updates, it is a bit glitchy with a few broken links at the moment but well worth the visit to get something well-made and unique.) I adore the pink eiffel tower print but it seems to be on its way out...must investigate.
The Frida Kahlo print

I have seriously loved get cutie since visiting the shop in Brighton ages ago. So far i have one dress and 4 skirts.
