Project Runway's Leanne a Fan Favourite, Blogger Happy
I came into my rah-rahing for Project Runway 5's Leanne Marshall rather biased, getting to know her a bit just before she found fame on must-see TV while discussing a custom dress. She's really lovely and her vibrant personality is reflected in her designs. However, I did wonder if my favouritism was blinding me to the talents of her competition on the show.
Umm, I don't think so. There are a few promising people on the show but what I've seen just isn't enough to sway me from camp Leanimal. Leanne - both on and off the show - gets my vote for overall style, construction (she makes EVERYTHING herself), and wearability, with extra marks for her feminine yet never 'cutesie', redundant or superflous details. Her designs are innovative and gorgeous. And she's nice! And genuinely so, not in that 'I'm your friend but don't cross me' scary kind of way. Overall, it's a much more subdued bunch than what we've seen in the past, isn't it? The 'villain' is absent (though there's always Nina Garcia to fill the void).
The ProjectRunway.com bloggers feel the same and aren't afraid to say it - Leanne is their favourite! After easily making it through episode 6 last night she's now one of the 10 designers remaining, and we've enjoyed seeing her dressed in her own creations show after show. She's not the only designer with a tight continuity to her wardrobe, but she is the only one to have a truly original look. I love that Leanne's style is so innate that she can make a gorgeous gown or casual accessory using the same pleats, pintucks and folds. Pure Leanimal.
