Biography

So, about me....hmmm....I hate this, having to sum up a complex individual such as myself in a brief paragraph.

But seriously, I'm really just a big goofball who loves to write about what I love, and judging by the posts on this blog, that must be fashion. I live in the UK with my very supportive husband and gorgeous daughter, having come from Canada three years ago. My background is visual arts and advertising as far as education is concerned, and I've mostly worked in communications and marketing. At this point the thought of returning to the office makes me want to vomit with rage. I run my own online shop which I'm about to move over here to Typepad, making bags mostly by creating my own merino wool and cashmere felts. I'm inspired by the fashion of the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s, and by French culture as it has manifested itself in its women.

And I should mention I'm in love wih a dead man, Mark Rothko.

People who inspire me (for some it's simply their look):

Audrey Hepburn (for everything she was)
Vanessa Paradis (circa 1991, no one prettier, ever and the sweetest voice)
Audrey Tautou (how irresistable is she?)
Julie Delpy (is there anything she can't do?)
Daphne Guinness (ditto)
Carla Bruni (style, beauty and music)
Francoise Hardy (style, beauty and music)
Carole Bouquet
Lou Doillon
Tina Fey (how brave is she?)

Interests

I need humour in my day and get much of it from looking in the mirror and watching TV, namely Peep Show, That Mitchell and Webb Look, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, South Park, Graham Norton, and Arrested Development. I also love Mad Men, so brilliant (not funny, but brilliant). Travelling as much as possible to cross must-see cities off the list. Eating, lots. I adore playing tennis and watching it, but really only men's (women's is virtually unwatchable.) Food is good. Nurturing the little style maven that is emerging in my daughter (what a dream!). Making my bags. And missing my friends back home but really enjoying my new ones here in England.
